Will Smith is sharing an eerie connection he has to two legendary musicians' deaths.

During a Feb. 18 appearance on the Broken Record Podcast with Justin Richmond, the actor — who was promoting his upcoming project Based on a True Story — said that he met Notorious B.I.G. hours before he was murdered in 1997. Smith, 56, added that he had spoken to Prince ahead of his death in 2016.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor was asked about his only interaction with Biggie, which happened "the night he got killed."

"I don't even want to say this out loud 'cause it's like a terrible jinx," Smith said. "I met Biggie four hours before he got killed, and I talked to Prince eight hours before he died."

Smith added that Biggie's death left him in tears. "'Cause it was stupid and just centered on hip-hop for rapping. That one hurt me. It scared me, too."

Meanwhile, Prince called Smith to pitch a business venture between them and Jay-Z to start an "entertainment company." "He had talked to Jay and he wanted to do it. And we talked that night, and in the morning, he was gone," Smith said.

"I don't know what that says about me." The King Richard actor then jokingly told the podcast host, "don't call me, don't call me."

Notorious B.I.G. died in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles in March 1997. While riding in an SUV in Los Angeles' Miracle Mile, the driver of a Chevy Impala pulled up beside the car and began shooting. He was 24 years old.

The murder took place six months after rapper Tupac Shakur was killed similarly in Las Vegas in September 1996. Both shootings remain unsolved.

Prince died in April 2016 when he was found unresponsive in an elevator. He was pronounced dead less than 30 minutes later. His death was listed as an accident caused by “fentanyl toxicity” and that “the decedent self-administered fentanyl," according to a press release from the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.

In 2018, his toxicology report revealed that the "Purple Rain" singer had a high amount of fentanyl in his system at the time of his death. The levels of the drug Prince had in his system "seem to represent overdose or fatal toxicity cases," the report stated.

Kevin Spacey tells Guy Pearce to 'grow up'
Kevin Spacey has told Guy Pearce to "grow up" after the actor claimed he was "targeted" by his former co-star. The 65-year-old actor has taken to social media to hit back at Guy's recent claims, insisting that the 57-year-old star is "not a victim". In a video posted on X, Kevin - who starred alongside Guy in the 1997 movie 'L.A. Confidential' - said: "Guy Pearce, I've now read the comments that you made about me and while I would have preferred not to have to play this out in the media, you obviously have your own reasons for wanting to do exactly that. "But, we worked together a long time ago, you know? If I did something then that upset you, you could've reached out to me. We could've had that conversation. But instead, you've decided to speak to the press, who are now coming after me because they would like to know what my response is to the things that you've said. "You really want to know what my response is? Grow up." Kevin - whose career previously went into freefall after he was accused of sexual misconduct by a number of men - actually recalled spending time with Guy after they filmed 'L.A. Confidential'. He continued: "Did you also, by the way, tell the press that a year after we shot 'L.A. Confidential', you flew to Georgia while I was shooting 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil' just to spend time with me?" Kevin also questioned why his former co-star took so long to voice his concerns. The actor - who was acquitted by a jury of sexual assault charges in 2023 - explained: "Here you are now on a mission some 28 years later, after I've been through hell and back, to do what? "I've got nothing to hide. But Guy, you need to grow up. You are not a victim." By contrast, Guy recently claimed that he was "targeted" by his former co-star. The actor told the 'Awards Chatter' podcast: "I was sort of scared of Kevin because he’s quite an aggressive man. "He’s extremely charming and brilliant at what he does - really impressive, etc. He holds a room remarkably. But I was young and susceptible, and he targeted me, no question."

Johanna Moder’s latest — the thrilling, paranoid, bleakly comedic “Mother’s Baby” — is crafted with masterful tonal control for much of its runtime. It comes achingly close to sticking the landing, undone only in its final minutes by a handful of decisions that rob it of its crucial power: its ability to exist within the chilling unknowns of postpartum depression.
