Police arrest suspect in 2021 killing of young man in Lowertown
Ottawa police have arrested and charged Haybe Farhan Aden in a 2021 killing in Ottawa's Lowertown neighbourhood, police say.
Aden, 29, of Ottawa is charged with second degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Tyson Nkunzimana — called Loris Tyson Ndongozi by his family — and attempted murder of another 18-year-old man in the same incident, police said in a Tuesday evening news release.
Aden re-entered Canada at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Tuesday, police said. He was arrested and returned to Ottawa, where he was charged and appeared in court Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
Aden had been wanted under a Canada-wide arrest warrant, issued by the Ottawa Police Service in July 2021.

The victim, Tyson Ndongozi, and his family immigrated to Ottawa from Burundi four years before his death, according to his father.
Ndongozi was killed while playing pick-up basketball with a friend. His friend was also shot but survived his injuries.
Last July marked three years since his death, and his family said at that time they had heard no updates from police about the warrant.
His father now runs Tyson Dream, an initiative that supports sports and civic engagement for youth, in hopes of ending youth-involved and gun violence in the city.
